Founder & Creator of The Dating Show Live
The Dating Show Live is a living, breathing Dating Expo – we would love to give you an insight into the Show and wanted to give you a little insider goss on our founder and creator, Angela Watson.
New Goss - Found some fantastic new brands for the Show. Some of which I just had to buy myself – now skint! Bought a fantastic perfume from The Parfum Club – find them on Facebook @theparfumclub. OMG the one I bought for my room – I absolutely love it. It still smells amazing every morning. So excited they will be part of the Show and I will probably buy them out on the day!
My interview with Angela Watson
Jaine: So, Angela how did you come up with this idea for a dating show?
Angela: As I was single after coming out of a marriage again, I realised just how dire it was for single people. You had to search for ages on Google to find anything and I found relying solely on the Apps was soul destroying. There had to be a different way. People deserved better and went about designing a Show to bring single people together, showcase loads of fantastic dating companies then expanding into what else is related to dating and being single.
Jaine: What inspired you?
Angela: A need for change. Someone had to start making a change and often in life, if you feel strongly about something, you need to put your “money where you mouth is” is as my old mum still says.
Jaine: What would you like to achieve from the Show?
Angela: I would love people to meet face to face in a no-pressure fun environment where they have a chance to meet new friends and hopefully, someone they have a connection with. I believe 100% that you need to meet face to face and talk to people – we spend far too much time on our phones and our computers. If I can set the groundwork so a large percentage of people meet, have great fun, feel good about each other and maybe a wedding or too, I will be happy.
Jaine: Is the dating industry behind you?
Angela: As you can imagine, this is completely new for the industry and many companies that own Apps do not want to actually meet their customers, which has been fun. However we do have some great brand new innovative Apps that are dying to meet the public.
We are lucky to have the backing of Eddie Ankrett, whom most people affecting call “Mr Dating”. Eddie is the chair of The Dating Agency Association and has given us his 100% backing which I will always be grateful for. Thank you Eddie. x
Jaine: Are you single ? Do you have children?
Angela: Yes, I am very much still single and looking, like many people, for someone I can settle down with and can be my “partner in crime” 😊. I have three children aged 25, 22 and 16 respectively. Two girls and a boy in the middle, a little miniature Schnauzer called Tilly and a Persian black cat called Alfie.
Jaine: Tell us what will be happening on the day will you have celebrities there?
Angela: Wow. That is a question and a half. Okay -here goes.
The nation’s much-loved TV presenter, Melinda Messenger will be opening the nation’s favourite dating TV show, First Dates with her new beau, Chris Harding. We have the legend former Three Degrees singer, Sheila Ferguson belting out her top hits, Walk Like a Man straight from The Jersey Boys West End Show singing live, Gary Cockerill, the world-famous celebrity make-up artist advising on what makeup is right for you, John Scott working with a team of stylists for men and women, Lara Asprey from TV’s Ultimate Matchmaker TV show and finally we are just securing a well-known TV reality star who will be our roving reporter on the day (watch this page for more news coming up)
The show is designed to let people sample speed dating, other matching activities for people to watch, dip their toe into and try out. We have a whole section on “being attractive inside and out” where you can experiment with new looks and enhance what you have. Lots of great products to shop for and fun activities you can do with other singles, without the pressure of “being matched”.
In fact, there is so much going on at the Show, you might need to pace yourself.
Jaine: I’ve been told it’s a fun filled event packed with interactive activities is that so? What are the activities?
Angela: So far, we have Speeddating, Beer Tent Mixers, a whole host of games in the Arabian Tent such as lock and key, human knot, Russian Roulette, Safari Dating, Silent Dating, Escape the Room, Virtual Reality, Golf, The Cuddle Couch, Dating in the Dark and so much more that are coming in every day. I will keep you updated.
We have a traffic light badge system when you arrive, you pick a badge. Red is for wingmen or woman (basically you are not single), Amber is “I’m single but shy – I’ll approach you” and green I will be wearing saying “I’m single, go for it!”
Jaine: What charity if any are you supporting this year.
Angela: It is important we give back and The Dating Show Live will always support a charity each year. This year as we are focusing on making peoples wishes come true by aiming to find them “their soulmate”, I thought it would be great to make children’s wishes come true at the same time. We are supporting “Make a Wish Foundation” who will be given a free stand this year and watch over the next few months for a range of fund-raising activities to ensure terminally ill children have their wishes made a reality.

See what I get up too in the run up to the Show! Some of the celebrities might even be at the Show too!
Song Of The week
" I Love the words to this song! This is my mantra. No matter what your age, if you keep your heart young, positive and get excited and grateful like a child at the smallest of things, you can achieve anything you desire. Also the fact that Frank Sinatra sings it, helps too! "
